Note: The lifecycle of an event page auto-created charity campaign corresponds to that of the linked event page, ensuring that the charity campaign does not continue to remain active once the event page is archived.
Creating a seamless experience for charities and fundraising Champions.
This option means that a campaign page is created instantly on the charity’s profile without extra work for the charity that forms part of the event page. The campaign page will be populated with a default cover image and description, with the charity being able to edit the content if needed.
Fundraising Champions can easily find and link to their chosen charity when joining an event to create their fundraising project, thereby greatly reducing any confusion or delays in setting up their fundraising pages.
Background:
The event organiser manually links a charity to an event page, or a fundraiser searches for a charity on an event page as part of their fundraising. This will automatically create a campaign on the beneficiary charity’s profile.
The event then reaches its fundraising deadline or is manually archived, and the charity’s auto-created campaign will behave in a similar way, to prevent any action on a campaign that would influence the event in an unwanted way.
Implications:
- Once the (main) event reaches its fundraising deadline (usually 1 month after the event end date), the “Start fundraising” button on the event page will no longer display, to prevent any new projects from being created. Similarly, the “Start fundraising” button on the charity campaign page will also not display anymore.
- When the (main) event is archived by the event organiser, the "Give" button on the event page will not display anymore, to prevent any new donations from being added to the event total. Similarly, the charity campaign page and linked fundraiser projects will also automatically be archived, thereby disabling the Give buttons on these pages.
Note: If an event forms part of a larger (main) event and only the former is archived, the charity campaign and its projects will NOT be auto-archived.
