We are excited to introduce Groups — a flexible new way for charities and event organizers to organize, segment, and manage their fundraising within any event on GivenGain.
Whether you are participating in a major partner marathon or running your own event, Groups allow you to create nested sub-events attached to a parent event. This gives you finer control over how your fundraising activites are run, how your fundraisers are managed, and how your results are tracked.
Why Use Groups?
1. Differentiate Multiple Initiatives Within the Same Event
If your charity runs multiple campaigns or projects tied to a single event, Groups allow you to separate them while keeping everything connected to the main event.
Example: Running dedicated campaigns for different branches, specific hospital wards, or distinct conservation projects all taking part in the same event.
Benefit: Each Group has its own targets, description, and leaderboard, while still linking back to the parent event.
2. Segment and Manage Different Fundraiser Categories
Easily organize different cohorts of participants based on entry type, commitments, or team affiliations.
Example: Differentiating fundraisers who received a charity place / free entry (with a required fundraising minimum or fundmin commitment) from own-place / self-funded participants.
Benefit: Tailor messaging, track milestones, and manage fundraiser requirements separately for each category without cluttering your main event.
Key Highlights
Seamless Setup: Inherits the parent event’s branding, logo, dates, and causes automatically, while still allowing you to customize them as needed.
Dedicated Management Tab: Easily find and manage all your active, draft, and archived groups under the Groups tab in your GivenGain dashboard.
Independent Tracking & Leaderboards: Each Group has its own distinct statistics, participant list, and fundraising totals.
Full Lifecycle Controls: Publish, manage, archive, or delete Groups independently from the parent event.
How to Get Started
Log in using the email address associated with your charity account and navigate to Events (top navigation bar) > Organiser or Partner > Active.
Click on the vertical dots ⋮ icon next to the relevant event page, then select Create group.
Enter a title for your group, for example, The Yes-We-Can Funrunners, and click Continue.
Upload a square logo or image for your group and provide a description of the group, then click Continue.
On the group preview page, click Looks good! Make it live to activate your new group, or select Edit group to modify the group page and add a cover image, then click View public page and publish it.
Once your group page is live, its URL will be available to share with your supporters. Use the share options located below the group description to distribute the link.
Supporters may now select Give to make a donation or Start fundraising to create their own fundraising project on your behalf.
To edit or manage your group page in future, navigate to Events (top navigation bar) > Groups, select the vertical dots ⋮ icon next to the relevant group page, then choose your preferred action from the popup menu.
